Ruby Crown III and IV

Clement led the frog army deeper into the kobolds cave. Finding a massive chamber full of men, women and children kobolds, Clement did not stop the frogs when they leapt forward to the slaughter. The party did not stick around to see the results of the battle. It is the depths of midnight when they reach the gates of Fangmire, having forgone a rest to press on further. Not but a few yards from the gate, the sky fills with a dazzling light. Above them, a shooting star, aflame, rockets through the air, crashing into the swamp and sliding to a steaming stop. Emerging from the crater is a perfectly unscathed naked man. He is questioned for a short time (it is revealed he is named Balthazar) before clothed and brought into the town under the wing of the party, who shield him from the guards questions. They rest for a week to level up, then returns to get the treasure they buried in the beast man’s camp. At the webbed crossing they decide this time to burn the webs and evict the spiders. The...

Ruby Crown II

It's a warm, quiet night. Icoriol the elf stays awake while the rest sleep. His alarm spell keeps them safe from dangers. But, for an instant, the shafts of moonlight through the trees wink out, for just a fraction of a second. The sound of heavy rustling and an impact nearby confirm the elf's fears: something large and flying has just landed nearby. Then, the alarm sounds. Looming into view as everyone wakes up, a hideous beast with a long neck, white scaly flesh and a long barbed stinger poised over it's head, ready to strike. The wyvern hisses and snaps. It's here for a meal. Lobsang has brief success warding it away with a torch, but the thing is as big as their whole party combined. It leaps, narrowly missing as everyone leaps out of the way. When it lands, it stabs out with it's stinger. The stinger plunges into Castamirs stomach, lifting him off his feet and throwing him into the swamp. The wyvern grabs it's prey, and with a few great beats of it's wi...

Ruby Crown I

We open on the road to Fangmire, a town clinging to the Prioro Marsh in the northwestern corner of The Ruby Crown: the domain of The Concubine Queen and capital of Orthos the great kingdom of jewels An elderly man walks beside a dishevelled drunk. The elder is Clement, cleric of Baron Paul the imminent. The younger is Lobsang, drunken monk A whistle sounds behind them - bandits! They are chased up the road to the gates of Fangmire. From adjacent roads they are joined by Gruffie, a half-foot druid; Icoriol, an elf(!); and Castamir, a devil-man from the desert Backed into the corner, Clement earns the ire of the guards by thunderwaving one off his horse. Before they can respond, the guards on the walls blow up a bandits head with an arbeques (it's renaissance times) and the party is saved, safely making it inside. After a quick stop at the temple (where a rumor is gathered), everyone meets in The Frog and Toad for a drink. After hearing about the gathering forces of chaos in some nea...

Chachumtak I: The Snake learns of the Charioteer

My boy peter has been hexcrawling around the jungle isle of Chachumtak, looking for the lost idol. The following is a collection of re-tellings of his deeds and other excerpts of the wider world. I have dubbed his PC The Charioteer, because that's his profession and as far as I know he doesn't have a name. He's a fighter from the paradise shores of Ajira (medieval-japan-egypt) about 400 miles south-west of Chachumtak. He has with him his chariot-bird, a Moa and his faded golden chariot emblazoned with a lion-sun, symbol of the pharaoh of the paradise shores. At this point in time (11 September) the explored part of the island is this: The Snake learns of the charioteer The charioteer has just completed a many-day long trek west across the southern ridge of Chachumtak. Along the way he encountered a grove of strange forked trees, the great falls of the southern ridge and an Ogre camp with a captured snake-with-a-human-face, which was avoided. Low on food and wages for his ...
